On Monday, April 14, the BFA-St. Albans Bobwhites’ baseball team earned a 9-4 road win over Burlington. Carson Neveau, making his first start in nearly a year, threw 5 ⅓ innings, gave up three hits, three runs, three walks, and struck out four in his first start since April 2024. Evan Marchessault paced the offense with two hits (doubles) and two RBI. Brody Tatro also contributed two hits and a run scored. Austin Stuart added a double and two RBI.

Emily Taylor, a second-grade teacher at Fairfield Central School and a lifelong runner, is gearing up to run in the 2025 Boston Marathon on April 21. Taylor has run many marathons, but this one will be exceptional. Taylor, a cancer survivor, will run the marathon to raise support and awareness for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Hiking Morro Peak felt like walking through a gateway to another world. We left the turquoise water of the Athabasca River behind us as we entered the forest, unsure of what we’d find on our first hike in the snowy Canadian Rockies. My husband, Adam, and I chose Morro Peak for our first hike in Jasper National Park because it was approachable, had gorgeous views, and was on our way.

Franklin County's three varsity lacrosse teams prepare to take the field in the coming days. BFA-St. Albans Comets lacrosseSubmitted by Coach Mary PipesThings are looking great for Comet lacrosse. With just one senior this year, we’re primarily a young team, so the next couple of seasons should be fun. Captains Dahlia Steele and Abby LaBounty are doing a great job keeping everyone focused. We’re returning many attackers from last year, so I expect to see some great things from them.

Adam has been a devoted fan of the Edmonton Oilers hockey team since he was a kid, and while he’s seen them play several times at away rinks, he’d never been to their home rink. We’d thought about making the trip to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, a few times, but never made the trip. Two for one on the bucket list.
