The Orioles broke the deadlock in the third inning via an RBI sacrifice flyout to center, taking an early 1-0 lead. The Tigers continued to be held scoreless throughout the game, as both sides’ pitching dominated into the late innings. Tigers pitcher Kallie Griffin had a terrific day in the circle, but did concede a late-game two-run home run to Concordia in the top half of the sixth.

    FORT SCOTT, KS — Fort Scott baseball clinched a spot in the state tournament with a regional finale win against Wamego on Thursday afternoon. A first inning base hit by Fort Scott’s Kanin Brown easily scored Dub Chipman to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. After a pair of bases loaded walks, the Tigers took a 3-0 lead heading into the second inning. Wamego put a run up in the third to tighten the deficit, but Fort Scott’s offense exploded in the fifth inning with six runs crossing the plate.

    NEOSHO, MO — Crowder College Women’s Basketball drops to 17-3 overall this season after suffering its first defeat on home court Wednesday night, falling to Three Rivers Community College 69-58. The game was rather back-and-forth throughout the first half with the Roughriders facing a six-point deficit at the halftime break. While Crowder’s offense significantly improved in the second half, posting 43 points compared to 15 in the first half, the Roughriders struggled to defend the perimeter.

    JOPLIN, MO — McAuley Catholic Boys Basketball has extended its win streak to five after taking down Wheaton 59-18 on Tuesday night. It was a dominant showcase of defense and patient offense for the Warriors, who opened the game on an absurd 23-2 run in the first quarter. Wheaton struggled to hit shots while McAuley Catholic was ferocious in the passing lanes on defense, piling up several steals and fastbreak points off said steals.
