JOPLIN, MO — Missouri Southern baseball suffered a series sweep after back-to-back losses on Friday afternoon. The Lions dropped game one 15-12 and game two 18-2. The only lead the Lions had in game two came from a fielder’s choice in the bottom half of the first. Nate Mieszkowski’s grounder was corralled at short, but a run still crossed the plate to give MSSU a 1-0 lead. After the first inning, Central Missouri began to pile on the hits.

JOPLIN, MO — Missouri Southern’s offense struggled to keep up with Central Missouri on Thursday afternoon as they fell to the Mules 11-5. UCM strung hits together in the top half of the first, driving in a pair of RBI to take an early 2-0 lead. Drew Townsend then hammered a solo home run in the bottom frame, cutting the lead in half. The Mules would respond in kind with a three-run bomb of their own in the second, pushing the deficit to four.
