I had a 3 hour detour on the 1 (there was a rock slide near Big Sur and I had to turn back). However, Carmel was beautiful. I had never been before. I went to a little hole-in-the-wall stationary shop before stopping at Carmel River State Beach. I put a handful of sand into my purse… not sure if that’s illegal or not.

This past Saturday, Ian George performed at Blue House Stage, a local venue in Scotts Valley. My friend Emma and I drove just 15 minutes on the 17 and arrived at a winding road that led into mountains. We passed beautiful homes and farmland amongst redwoods until we approached a small gathering of young boys in the street. “Excuse me!” Two of them hollered at us and motioned to roll down the window.
