(WTVO) — As a heatwave sweeps parts of the nation, veterinarians are warning pet owners about heat-related emergencies and what they should do to prevent those situations. “Heat stroke is the big risk and actually death,” said the Owner and Veterinarian at Auburn Animal Clinic, Patricia Holms. “It happens fairly easy and fairly quickly, much more quickly than the owners would realize.”The Winnebago County Animal Services Director said to be wary of the pavement in extreme heat.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Marrion Wright, 24, for allegedly delivering cocaine while on parole. On June 16, officers received reports of drug activity in the 1100 block of Crosby Street. Authorities conducted a one-day investigation and determined Wright was the suspect. Officials searched Wright’s home and took him into custody on June 19, around 9:30 a.m.He is charged with manufacturing and delivering cocaine.

MILTON, Wis. (WTVO) — First responders rushed a victim to the hospital after two boats collided on Lake Koshkonong. Deputies and firefighters were called to the 11000 block of North Charley Bluff Road and found that a pontoon boat, carrying six passengers, had crashed into a jon boat with three passengers inside. One pontoon boat passenger sustained minor injuries, while one of the jon boat passengers had serious injuries.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Tyvionne Horton, 25, for allegedly shooting at a man in the parking lot of Vinny’s Pizza on May 13. According to officers, around 9 p.m., the victims were sitting in a car in the 4100 block of Newburg Road when another car drove by and multiple occupants began shooting at them. One of the armed victims returned fire at the car as it sped away. Police said the victim’s car was riddled with bullet holes.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — People from around the Rockford area gathered at Sinnissipi Park to celebrate Juneteenth at Sinnissipi Park on Thursday. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Confederate states were freed by the Union Army. This year marks the 35th anniversary of Rockford’s Juneteenth Celebration, the oldest known celebration of its kind in Illinois.
