Each afternoon will have peak heat index values in the triple digits. Traditionally, a heat wave in our area is considered 3 days in a row at or above 90 degrees. TODAY: Mostly sunny, hot, and humid. Winds gust to 25 mph. High temperatures in the low to mid-90s with a peak heat index just over 100.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — All of central Indiana will be eyeing the first 90-degree temperature reading of the year this weekend. Is this normal for this time of year or are we ahead of schedule for the summer-like warmth? Climate averages spanning the last 20-30 years place most spots in central Indiana with an average first 90-degree reading in early to mid-June. With that being said, all of central Indiana is running behind schedule with hitting 90 degrees for the first time.

A brief break is on the way for Sunday before multiple rain chances this week. TODAY: A few spots of patchy fog waking up. Partly cloudy skies turn mostly cloudy. There is a stray shower chance south of I-70 this afternoon, but the vast majority remain dry. High temperatures in the low 80s. TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Low temperatures in the mid-60s.

The axis of the rain will slowly pivot more south through this afternoon. TODAY: Slow-moving scattered showers and storms become more numerous, mainly along and south of I-70. Rainfall totals will vary widely depending on whether you are stuck under a downpour or not.
