ARLINGTON, Texas — A 22-year-old man died in a crash on Interstate 30 in Arlington early Monday morning, police said. The crash happened around 2:25 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the highway in the 2600 block of Interstate 30, according to a police news release. Officers responded to a report of a crash involving a passenger car and an 18-wheeler, police said. Officers learned that a Hyundai Elantra was stopped in the center lane of the highway without its lights on for an unknown reason.

DALLAS — The tornado ripped the heavy doors off the First Baptist Church, but spared the building, and so that's where they placed the bodies and treated the wounded. Nearly everything else in the small North Texas town was destroyed. Nearly 100 years ago Friday, on May 9, 1927, two tornadoes ripped through Garland and then Collin County, decimating the town of Nevada. In all, 34 people were killed and 140 were injured, according to the National Weather Service.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A longtime Fort Worth burger joint caught fire early Friday morning, officials said. Numerous crews responded around 5:15 a.m. to Tommy's Hamburger Grill in the 5200 block of Camp Bowie Boulevard in West Fort Worth, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department. Officials said crews arrived to find light smoke and fire coming from a vent on the roof of Tommy's.
