The Detroit Tigers have brought back pitcher Jack Flaherty after moving him to the Los Angeles Dodgers at last year's trade deadline. Flaherty returns on a two-year deal with a World Series ring on his resume. Flaherty signed with Detroit last season, where he pitched well going 7-5 with a 2.95 ERA and a 2.4 WAR over 18 starts. If Flaherty continued at that pace he could have roughly matched his best season back in 2019, where he finished with a 2.75 ERA with a 5.9 WAR for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Three Cy-Fair ISD elementary schools recently received new playgrounds courtesy of the SPARK School Park Program, according to a Nov. 21 news release. Holmsley, Lieder and Tipps elementary schools were awarded the playground improvements. SPARK School Park Executive Director Kathleen Ownby said the parks were funded using "park desert" funds raised by the program. "SPARK parks benefit the school during the day and the community after school, on weekends and holidays," Ownby said in the release.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — One person died Saturday morning after being hit by a pickup truck in the 4600 block of Dollarway Road. The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating the fatal traffic collision and said the driver of the pickup truck "remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities." According to Pine Bluff police, officers responded to the accident around 5:14 a.m. and found the pedestrian lying unresponsive on the ground.
