One man is dead following a motorcycle crash in Clarington, Ont. Durham Regional Police said around 5:30 p.m. that the crash happened in the area of Trulls Road between Bloor Street and Avondale Drive in Clarington, approximately 25 kilometres east of Oshawa. Police say a single motorcycle was involved in the crash and an adult male was pronounced dead. Police have closed Trulls Road between Bloor and Avondale and say a collision investigation is underway.

There are showers and a risk of thunderstorms expected on Thursday in the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario. Environment Canada says Thursday’s forecast is calling for a few showers in the morning with cloudy conditions across the GTA. There’s a 40 per cent of more showers later in the morning in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and Oshawa, and a 30 per cent chance in Hamilton. The weather agency says there’s also a risk of thunderstorms throughout the morning and afternoon across the GTA.

Peel Regional Police are asking the public to help find a man last seen in Brampton on Wednesday. Soma, a 79-year-old man, was last seen around 11:30 a.m. walking on foot leaving the area of Timbertop Crescent and Hot Spring Road in Brampton. Police and family are concerned for his well-being and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

For the second day in a row, workers are trying to restore power in Brampton after thousands of customers were left in the dark in Brampton. The outage happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, utility provider Alectra says.

The license of a teenage driver in Brampton has been suspended after being clocked speeding nearly double the limit in a 60 km/h zone, police say. The traffic stop happened on Monday night while officers with the Peel Police Road Safety Services team were out in Brampton, Peel police say. Officers clocked an 18-year-old driver travelling at 114 km/h in a 60 km/h zone, police say. “A collision at this speed would have been disastrous,” Peel police said in a release on social media.
