[UPDATE]TOWN OF PORTLAND, Wis. (WKBT) -- Authorities released the victims' names in a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday. 41-year-old Travis Brommerich of Stoddard, the driver, died after he was ejected from the motorcycle. OSSEO, Wis. (WKBT) -- The Osseo Rural Fire Department estimates 65 to 80 acres were burned in what started as a brush fire and turned into a grass fire. According to Osseo Rural Fire Department Chief Nels Gunderson, crews were called to the 46000 block of Thorson Road around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gunderson said the fire stemmed from a homeowner burning debris next to a brush pile when the burning debris spread to that pile, which then spread to the land that was affected.

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) -- A Monroe County man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting three children repeatedly between 2020 and 2021 at a residence in Tomah. According to the Monroe County Office of the District Attorney, 27-year-old George "Wyatt" Conti was charged with child sex crimes in July 2022. The children were approximately 4, 9, and 14 years of age when Conti began assaulting them. Conti admitted to the most serious felonies against him in December 2024.

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Drivers in La Crosse can expect lane closures and detours as two major road construction projects began Monday. Construction on US Highway 14 between Marion Road and Garner Place focuses on improving pavement and maintenance on expansion joints at the bridge over Pammel Creek. Drivers can expect lane closures and single-lane traffic in both directions during the construction. The project is scheduled to be completed in June.

TOWN OF PORTLAND, Wis. (WKBT) -- Two people are dead after a motorcycle and car collided in Monroe County Sunday evening. According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the Communications Center received a report of the crash on State Highway 33 near County Highway X just after 5:00 p.m.During the initial investigation into the crash, it was determined that the 41-year-old Stoddard man operating the motorcycle was traveling west on State Highway 33 when he lost control while negotiating a curve.

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- A late-night house fire on the south side of La Crosse claimed the life of a pet on Saturday. According to the La Crosse Fire Department, crews responded to the report of the fire just after 11:00 p.m. after a neighbor noticed the fire and called 911. When first responders arrived on scene, they found flames coming from the roof on the back side of the home. Crews then worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire.
