DALLAS — Calling all Mavs fans! It's time to get into the holiday spirit. For the first time, the Dallas Mavs and WFAA are partnering up to host a Santa's Helpers toy drive outside of the American Airlines Center ahead of the team's home game against Houston on Nov. 28. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to PNC Plaza starting at 6 p.m. before entering the arena.

DALLAS — WFAA and the TEGNA Foundation announced Monday the 16 organizations receiving community grants for the second-round cycle in 2023. A call for proposals opened earlier this summer garnered more than 300 applications from non-profits serving north Texas. An internal review committee was especially interested in proposals from small and medium-sized organization. 75 percent of the organizations receiving grants have budgets under $3 million.

DALLAS — Friday kicked off with a big delivery of free backpacks at five Dallas ISD schools. Employees from Invitation Homes packed more than 400 backpacks with school supplies and donated them to WFAA’s 2023 Back to School Supplies Drive in early August. WFAA proudly partnered with United to Learn, a Dallas-based non-profit education organization, to identify five schools to receive the free backpacks.

BEDFORD, Texas — What do you do with an old YMCA building before it undergoes a remodel? The City of Bedford has partnered with a Dallas-based projection mapping company to create an interactive art show called "Surreal Pop: An Immersive Experience of Momentous Art Movements." Lightware Labs installed more than two dozen projectors in three rooms -- and an empty swimming pool -- to feature four types of art: impressionism, surrealism, pop art, and optical illusion art.
