BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (KPTV) - The Linfield Wildcats saw their record-setting 2025 season come to a close on Sunday, falling to Trine University 10-9 in walk-off fashion in the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Finals. Despite holding three separate leads of three runs against the Trine Thunder, and leading 9-6 heading to the bottom of the seventh, the Wildcats allowed three runs in the seventh to send the game to extra-innings.

SEATTLE Wash. (KPTV) - The Seattle Mariners will retire baseball hall-of-famer Randy Johnson’s number 51 during the 2026 season, the team announced Monday. The announcement comes on the the 35th anniversary of Johnson’s no-hitter against the Detroit Tigers in 1990, the first in franchise history. Johnson was acquired by the team from the Montreal Expos in 1989, and was a five-time All-Star during his tenure in Seattle.

EUGENE Ore. (KPTV) - The Oregon Ducks dropped their first game of the Eugene Regional of the NCAA Division I baseball tournament on Friday, but the loss was not without controversy. Trailing 6-4 to the Utah Valley Wolverines, with runners on first and third and no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Ducks appeared to pull within a run on a sacrifice fly scoring junior Anson Aroz that involved a collision at the plate.

MCMINNVILLE Ore. (KPTV) - The Linfield Wildcats advanced to the Finals of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship for the third consecutive season on Saturday, completing a two-game sweep of Illinois Wesleyan in the Super Regionals. The Wildcats defeated the Titans 2-0 on Thursday and 11-0 in five innings on Friday, and have now won 12 consecutive games dating back to late April.

EUGENE Ore. (KPTV) - Oregon Ducks baseball coach Mark Wasikowski was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year on Tuesday, the conference announced. Wasikowski led the Ducks (41-13) to a first-place tie atop the Big Ten during the regular season, and the No. 1 seed in this week’s Big Ten Tournament in Omaha, Neb. In addition, ten Ducks players earned All-Big Ten honors, in the program’s first season in the conference.
