1. IntroductionEosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a necrotizing vasculitis that affects small- and medium-sized blood vessels [1]. EGPA is histopathologically characterized by extensive infiltration of eosinophils and causes organ damage due to tissue inflammation and ischemia [2]. EGPA was first reported by Churg and Strauss in 1951 [3] and is now recognized as an antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis [4].

Introduction Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is the most common form of large-vessel vasculitis in the elderly population (1). If left untreated, it poses a medical emergency due to impending vision loss and stroke risk (2). In certain subpopulations, GCA has also been associated with increased mortality (3, 4). GCA predominates in women and populations of northern European descent (5).
