The implementation of red light cameras in Caledon, a program that has been in the works for several years, has been referred to the town’s new traffic safety advisory committee. Coun. Dave Sheen who brought forward a motion (at the April 8 General Committee) for town staff to investigate how these cameras can be expanded, fears this will cause a delay.

The Town of Caledon had 149 employees on the Ontario government’s Sunshine List for 2024, with the highest-paid staff member making more than $350,000. The province’s annual disclosure of public sector employees earning $100,000 or more, was released at the end of March. The number of town staff on the 2024 Sunshine List grew by 6.4 per cent from the 140 entries last year.

A handful of times when students needed help with retying their patkas (a head covering worn by Sikh boys) has prompted a Caledon elementary school to educate its staff about the Sikh article of faith. Palgrave Public School principal Lindsay Taylor told Caledon Enterprise that she wants her Sikh students to “feel supported.”“It’s probably just been a handful of times, but I think the one time we’re not able to respond to the kids in our community is too many,” said Taylor.
