    A Caledon resident was upset to see a dead bird hanging from a tree at Palgrave Pond last month. The bird appeared to have become entangled in a fishing line and prompted concerns of unsafe fishing practices. “There was a lure still attached to the line and the bird just hung,” Donna Austin told the Caledon Enterprise. Austin was enjoying a “beautiful Sunday walk” (on April 27) when she came across the unfortunate bird.

    Caledon council has directed staff to report back on a proposal to allow a developer to import fill for the rehabilitation of an old aggregate pit at 0 Shaws Creek Rd.Kate Hepworth, West Caledon Communities Traffic Group, drew attention to safety and health issues caused by increased truck traffic. She said trucks on Charleston Sideroad contributed to the death of an 18-year-old in a collision, whose memorial is in front of 0 Shaws Creek Road.

    A new wildlife hospital in Caledon that soft-launched about a month ago is already overrun with animals needing care. Dr. Sherri Cox told the Caledon Enterprise her team “scrambled” to get the medical facility ready to “help the community.”“We haven’t had our official grand opening, but we wanted to at least accept babies that are orphaned and hurt,” the wildlife veterinarian explained.
