The Kinders sang and invited area children to sing along to songs accompanied by puppets, stuffed animals and other props. Published 10:30 am Tuesday, June 3, 2025 VIDALIA, La. — The Town of Vidalia has adopted its operating budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year during a special meeting held Thursday, May 29, at Vidalia City Hall. The budget carries no increase to property taxes as the millage rate adopted on May 13 was 3.20 mils, the same as it was the previous fiscal year. No public comments were made regarding the budget, which passed by a vote of 4-0, with Alderman Robert Gardner absent.

Published 5:13 pm Monday, June 2, 2025 VIDALIA, La. — The Town of Vidalia has been granted a $15 million line of credit from the State Bond Commission to begin construction of a slackwater slip at the Vidalia Port. The Louisiana Department of Transportation will reimburse the port 90 percent or $12.3 million of the construction costs. Slackwater refers to a type of docking area where water movement is relatively slow, making it safer for vessels to dock and unload cargo.

Published 3:33 pm Monday, June 2, 2025 BATON ROUGE — Roux 61 Seafood and Grill closed its Baton Rouge restaurant at 8322 Bluebonnet Blvd for the last time on Saturday. Owner Jason Lees told Baton Rouge reporters that although business was doing well at the location, an opportunity to sell the real estate came open. A non-disclosure agreement with the buyers prevents Lees from saying who is purchasing the property.
