Published 1:09 pm Sunday, May 11, 2025 VIDALIA, La. — While there is not much the town can do at this point regarding a very large and growing sinkhole at Concordia Avenue and Elm Street, the town has not been idle about it, said Vidalia Mayor Buz Craft. Craft said the sinkhole is the worst he has ever seen. It started at a five-foot-wide storm drain that has collapsed at the entire end of Elm.

I will never forget her.

The first class to begin at Concordia Parish Academy as kindergarteners and then to graduate as adults walked across the stage at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center on Friday evening. CPA opened its doors in 2012 with only kindergarten through fifth-grade students, adding one grade level each year until it graduated its first class that started at the school in fifth grade in 2020.

More than 60 Ferriday High School Trojans marched across the stage to graduate from high school on Thursday evening, now preparing for a new chapter in their story. The graduation ceremony was held at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center due to improvements being made to the Ferriday football stadium.
