Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is now officially open in Marshall. The fast-casual chain held its grand opening on Monday, March 18 at 916 East End Blvd. North, bringing steakburgers, fries and custard desserts to the growing East End commercial district. While March 18 marked the grand opening to the public — complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony — Freddy’s hosted a soft launch the day before for employees’ friends and family.

The brown and vanilla bean color walls of my little corner felt closer than they ever had, like they wanted to swallow me whole. The hum of the fridge on the floor in the corner of my room was faint but maddening, a reminder that this space wasn’t really mine.

In a heartwarming display of community engagement, 92.3 The Depot continued its commitment to local outreach by hosting the third annual “Shop with a Cop” event in Marshall last Saturday to foster better relationships between children and law enforcement. “Often we see our police officers as people who just pull us over,” said Blake Langley, the principal at Price T.
