The Bay Area Friends of Fine Arts held their annual elementary and middle school art show for Sayville and Bayport-Blue Point districts at the BAFFA Gallery in the Gillette House in downtown Sayville on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30. Seventy-five elementary students and 60 middle school students were chosen for each district to be featured in the show. “Every year, young artists from Bayport-Blue Point and Sayville display their artwork at the BAFFA gallery.

The Bayport-Blue Point Chamber hosted its annual Beautification Champagne Brunch at Blackbirds Grille in Sayville on Sunday, April 27. The event is one of the main fundraisers for the chamber’s Beautification Committee that manages the yearly decorations on the lampposts lining Bayport and Blue Point on Montauk Highway. In the spring, flower baskets go up; in summer, flags are hung; and for the holiday season, wreaths and garland are placed.

In a fitting celebration, the close-knit generations of the Rehm family will be gathering on Saturday, April 5 at Butera’s of Sayville to honor patriarch, Kenneth, on his 100th birthday. Daughter Laura Caccavale said the festivities were in honor of Kennth’s, “continued vitality, love and support.”Ken was born on April 3,1925 in Queens, but after his father winterized the family’s summer residence in Holbrook, the family relocated full-time to Blossom Street when Ken was 12.
