EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — UTEP softball played its way to a 7-3 win over New Mexico in a non-conference game at the Lobo Softball Field in Albuquerque, NM on Tuesday. With the win on Tuesday, UTEP is now riding a five-game winning streak. It’s the Miners’ second five-game winning streak of the season. The last time UTEP put together five straight wins was during the Dr. Diana Natalicio Memorial Tournament back in February.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Locomotive FC has played a total of ten matches so far this season: seven USL Championship matches and three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches. The Locomotive have had more the success in one competition more than the other at this point of the year. Right now, the Wilmer Cabrera-led Locos are in the midst of the deepest U.S. Open Cup run it has made in club history. El Paso has won three cup games in a row to secure its spot in the Round of 32.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — New Mexico State men’s basketball is in the process of building its squad for the 2025-26 season. On Tuesday, NMSU announced the signing of Jemel Jones, a 6’4” guard out of Chicago, Illinois. Jones joins New Mexico State after he spent the 2024-25 season at CSU Bakersfield. While at CSU Bakersfield, Jones appeared in 33 games, started 26, averaged 18.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Del Valle High School football standout Jake Fette is being put in the mix with some of the most highly touted quarterbacks at the high school level in country. On3, one of the four primary high school football recruiting media services, placed Fette fourth on its 2026 top quarterback recruits list. Fette, a junior and soon-to-be senior quarterback at Del Valle High School, verbally committed to Arizona State in September 2024.
