    LAMESA, Texas — A deputy with the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jessie Perez, 42, was killed during a crash in Lamesa on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The crash happened during a traffic stop on West U.S. Highway 180, a press release from DPS said. While conducting the traffic stop, debris from a passing commercial vehicle hit him. Perez was transported to Lamesa Medical Arts Hospital by EMS.

    EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — New Mexico State men’s basketball is in the process of building its squad for the 2025-26 season. On Tuesday, NMSU announced the signing of Jemel Jones, a 6’4” guard out of Chicago, Illinois. Jones joins New Mexico State after he spent the 2024-25 season at CSU Bakersfield. While at CSU Bakersfield, Jones appeared in 33 games, started 26, averaged 18.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
