AP reports today that Israeli “defense” minister Israel Katz said: “If (Iranian Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali) Khamenei continues to fire missiles at the Israeli home front — Tehran will burn.”This is clearly a nuclear threat. Israel has a nuclear weapons arsenal, though it is incredibly avoided. I believe Iran was the only nation to mention it at the UNSC meeting yesterday.

I put this news release out via accuracy.org this morning. I’m spending too much time on X — @samhusseini. Late Thursday afternoon, the UN General Assembly voted with an overwhelming 149 affirmatives for a ceasefire in Gaza and demanded that Israel “immediately end the blockade” on Gaza, calling on member states to use “all measures necessary … to ensure compliance by Israel with its obligations.” About three hours later, Israel started bombing Iran.

At the United Nations on Wednesday, journalist pressed Sharon Birch, spokesperson for UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Philémon Yang, about the Gaza resolution that's slated for a vote at Thursday's emergency special session. He points out that previous resolutions have effectively amounted to “proclamations,” and asks why there isn't a push for more tangible actions against Israel: suspension from UNGA participation, mandatory sanctions, an arms embargo, a peacekeeping force, etc.

Their fast — with people eating only 250 calories a day, the average people are getting in Gaza — goes till the end of the month: The 14-1 vote signaled yet another low for the US government.
