    LAFAYETTE ― What should have been a moment of celebration for Kamarion Ayres turned into one of consoling. The McCutcheon junior just blew away the field to win the 300-meter hurdles at the Lafayette Jeff Regional Thursday, Mya 29. Ayres expected to turn around and see Harrison's Zion Clopton right behind him, just as Clopton had done earlier in the night when he won the regional title in the 110-meter high hurdles with Ayres finishing runner-up.

    Purdue football's regular season will conclude under the lights on a Friday night. The Boilermakers host the Old Oaken Bucket game against rival Indiana at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, on NBC. The start time was one of six Purdue released on Thursday. Purdue's 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Notre Dame, also televised on NBC, for Sept. 20 was previously announced.

    Less than two years after Purdue volleyball coach Dave Shondell jokingly quipped about playing a match at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Boilermakers will be center stage in the some of the state capital's most prestigious venues. It's not the famed race track, but the latest schedule announcement has Purdue facing rival Indiana on Oct. 16 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, which has a capacity of more than 18,000.

The Harrison sophomore had the game of her season when the season was on the line Tuesday night during a 3-1 win over rival McCutcheon in the Class 4A, Sectional 7 softball semifinal. The Raiders advanced to Thursday's sectional title game against Kokomo. Duell's older sister Whitney plays for Trine University, where she's a finalist for Division III Freshman of the Year.

    WEST LAFAYETTE − Jacob Schwartz has been waiting two years to get back here. Since leaping 22 feet, 4 inches as a freshman, the Harrison long jumper has experienced a series of setbacks due to groin and hamstring injuries. Thursday night, May 22 at Betty Bolyard Track, Schwartz finally surpassed his personal best mark, winning the long jump with a state standard mark of 22-4 3/4. "I've been struggling with a hamstring, so I haven't even been up to full speed," Schwartz said.
