    The Deer Creek Antlers won in a nailbiter against the Choctaw Yellowjackets 46-45 the day after dominating Lawton’s Eisenhower Eagles 79-34 in the first round of the 6A boys west bracket. The Antlers never trailed against the Eagles, hitting a quick three in the first minute of the matchup. Defense led to offense with transition buckets being scored all night in the first round of the regional.

    Edmond North blew out the Ponca City Wildcats in the first round of the OSSAA playoffs at the Siberian Gym on February 27. The Wildcats scored first, but their 2-0 lead was the only time they’d be up that night. The Lady Huskies scored two straight and didn’t look back, winning every quarter. “We were about 1/8 on threes in the first half. So on a bad shooting night, you’ve got to get some points from your defense,” North head coach Pete Papahronis said.

    Body Guthrie’s Kiwanis Club is hosting their annual Christmas auction on Saturday, December 7, with proceeds used to support Logan County children in need. The all-day auction, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., will be in the fellowship hall at First United Presbyterian Church on 102 East Noble Avenue. “Helping the children of Guthrie, Oklahoma” is the motto of the Kiwanis Club here in town, according to their website.

    Body Halloween in Guthrie means there will be many free activities for your children. Porches around town are decorated with ghosts, ghouls and skeletons–like this Victorian house on E. Cleveland and Ash with a 12-foot skeleton!A downtown trick-or-treating event is taking place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and streets will close at 3:45 p.m., hosted by the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce and Sam’s Club.
