KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Schaad Road has been under construction for more than two decades. Now, the project's second phase is wrapping up. William Denton, whose grandmother owned a farm in the Ball Camp area dating back to 1916, has watched the road transform over the years. "23 years ago, we gave them a piece of property through here to go through," Denton said. "It was supposed to be done in three years.

Here's a look at what might affect your drive times the week of March 31 heading into the first few days of April. If you're driving in Knox County, look out for two slowdowns on interstates starting on Monday. Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) crews will work on the I-40 West ramp to Watt Road near Mayor Bob Leonard Park. TDOT will be fixing concrete starting at 7 p.m. for an entire week through 6 a.m. Monday morning.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Lawmakers in Nashville are considering a bill aimed at improving pedestrian safety for students walking to school. The proposed legislation, HB0016, would establish a student pedestrian protection grant program to design, construct and repair sidewalks around public schools. Rep. John Ray Clemmons, D-Nashville, is sponsoring the bill.
