SAVERS have been issued a warning over "zombie" bank accounts costing them money ahead of a big interest rate update tomorrow. Around £280billion is sitting in accounts paying zero interest, the latest data from the Bank of England (BoE) reveals. The amount of cash sitting in these types of accounts has also risen by £51billion in the last year. It comes as the BoE is widely expected to lower the base rate tomorrow from 4.5% to 4.25%.

A BIG energy supplier has paid out £1,000s in compensation to customers after failing to give them final bills and refunds. Good Energy has issued 2,284 of its around 200,000 customers compensation worth on average £66 each. It comes after an investigation carried out by Ofgem, the regulator, found these customers, who were on prepayment meters, were affected by a billing error.

AMAZON has launched a new shopping service to rival Temu and Shein. The online marketplace giant has unveiled "Haul" in the UK offering shoppers thousands of products for £20 or less. The UK is just the second location where Amazon has launched the service, after it was opened up to the US market last year. The service is initially being trialled among select customers before being rolled out for all customers "in the coming weeks".

NATIONWIDE is making a big change to millions of accounts in weeks leaving savers worse off. The major building society is cutting interest rates on over 60 savings accounts from June 1. The move comes after the Bank of England slashed the base rate from 4.75% to 4.5% in February. The base rate affects the interest rates banks offer to customers on a range of products including savings accounts and mortgages.

BreakingLLOYDS and Halifax have gone down with thousands of customers locked out of mobile and online banking. Both banks are suffering an outage with over 2,000 customers experiencing issues, according to Downdetector. Around 60% of Halifax customer complaints relate to problems with mobile banking and 30% with online banking. Meanwhile, around 67% of Lloyds Bank complaints relate to customers having issues with online banking and 32% with logging in via mobiles.
