Nine and Stan Sport will remain the home of Rugby World Cups in Australia after securing an exclusive new broadcast partnership with World Rugby. Nine and Stan will showcase the 2025 women's Rugby World Cup in England followed by the 2027 men's and 2029 women's global tournaments in Australia. The deal also includes the world under-20 championship, the Pacific Nations Cup, WXV tournaments and the world sevens series.

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt has described the British and Irish Lions squad as "predictable and powerful" while admitting to anxiety about the magnitude of the challenge ahead. Lions coach Andy Farrell - Schmidt's former Ireland assistant - on Thursday unveiled a 38-man squad captained by Maro Itoje to tour Australia in June-August. As expected, Farrell leant heavily on his Ireland stars, with 15 picked to go with 13 from England, eight from Scotland and two from Wales.

ACT Brumbies star Noah Lolesio was stretchered off HBF Park amid serious injury fears in Saturday's Super Rugby Pacific derby against the Western Force. Lolesio was caught awkwardly in a ruck while getting cleaned out by several Force defenders in the first half as he tried to offer breakdown support for ball carrier Tom Wright. "Obviously there's a huge amount of concern," Cameron Shepherd said on Stan Sport from the Perth sidelines.

The Black Ferns continued their trans-Tasman stranglehold over the Wallaroos as the world champions retained the Laurie O'Reilly Cup with a 38-12 victory in Newcastle on Saturday. But while New Zealand remain clearly superior and were deserved winners, the margin could have been tighter if it wasn't for two dubious decisions by the officials. Kiwi fullback Braxton Sorenson-McGee announced her arrival on the international scene at just 18 with two tries on Test debut.
