Carnifex is a San Diego quintet categorized as deathcore for its extreme spin on metalcore, a genre known for distorted sound, blast beats and grim lyrics. The band, which has been together since 2005, has performed at venues across the U.S. and Canada.

    Samantha AcevedoStaff WriterI&I Brewing in Chino hosted a two-hour Cosmic Comedy night featuring performers Mario Rodriguez, Damon Monday, Jonathan Bird, Robyn Finch, Greg Sanchez and Zach Miller on Sunday. About 20 people attended the intimate event. With self-deprecating humor about things like drugs, failed marriages, parenting, and other touchy topics, all six performers adapted and improvised to appeal to individuals in the small audience.

    A gloomy afternoon in Redondo Beach, California was no match for the BeachLife Ranch Festival which whisked away the day with superb performances from country and Americana artists such as Pillbox Patti, Rome & Duddy, Shakey Graves, The Avett Brothers, Jack Johnson and more. On the first day, September 22, the festival started strong with sets from emerging and returning legends of the country and Americana scenes; proving what it means to be an artist of the Americana genre.
