Events include a historical exhibit on Black entrepreneurship, a one-woman show about Harriet Tubman, and the Lincoln Park Conservancy’s annual Juneteenth celebration. Along with the first days of summer, the month of June brings Juneteenth, the anniversary of the date when the last enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, learned they had been freed by the Emancipation Proclamation.

It's been a difficult few months for the New Rochelle school district, which was facing a financial deficit of up to $33 million for 2025-26. The district took a risk by seeking to increase its property tax levy by more than its state-imposed tax cap allowed — requiring the approval of more than 60% of voters. But the risk paid off early Wednesday morning, as New Rochelle voters passed the $359.5 million budget plan by a 3,976-2,046 margin.
