MJF’s creative could change. At Dynamite Grand Slam MJF put the AEW World Championship on the line in the main event against Samoa Joe. After an incredibly physical battle and a little help from Adam Cole, the champion retained the gold to extend his reign. However, the victory came at a cost for Cole, despite not wrestling in the match. When Cole ran in from backstage he jumped from the ramp to the floor and appeared to injure his ankle in the process.

Samoa Joe has opened up about how much it meant to work with CM Punk. The on-screen rivalry between Punk and Joe goes all the way back to a highly acclaimed three-match series in Ring of Honor in 2004. The two men wrestled to a 60-minute draw in June, before doing the same in October. The second bout became the first North American match to receive a five-star rating from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in seven years. Joe defeated Punk in the final match in the series in December.

Samoa Joe had one focus during CM Punk’s backstage altercation at All In.At All In, Joe and Punk were due to put a bow on a rivalry that had spanned the best part of 20 years, but an incident backstage threatened to completely overshadow the action in the ring. During his match on the pre-show, Jack Perry took a shot at CM Punk by referencing him on camera, and this sparked chaos backstage. Two more matches have been added to AEW Grand Slam. On the September 16th episode of The Young Bucks and Hangman Adam Page laid down the challenge to Mogul Embassy for the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles. The challenge came after The Bucks were forced to make the save after Brian Cage attacked Page on Dynamite. Also on Collision, a match was made for the AEW World Trios Titles with The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn putting the gold on the line against the Dark Order.
