SINGAPORE - In a first among universities here, Singapore Management University’s graduating class of 2025 will receive in July a transcript recording their co-curricular activities (CCA) on top of their academic transcript. The co-curricular transcript will go beyond a simple listing of activities that the student has participated in and indicate the skillsets that they have developed in the process, and the extent to which they have developed these skillsets through three progressive levels.

SINGAPORE – More than two decades after lifting the quota on female undergraduates, the National University of Singapore medical school welcomed its largest proportion of women in 2024. In response to queries from The Straits Times, the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine said 173 of the 286 freshmen who enrolled in 2024 – about 60 per cent – are female.

In his first media interview as DBS Bank chief executive Piyush Gupta said the university should aim to become the “quintessential Asian university”, emulating DBS, which he had turned into the “quintessential Asian bank” since he took over the helm in 2009. “The world’s population is here, the world’s growth is here,” said Mr Gupta, 65, referring to Asia’s burgeoning growth, and stressing that it presents an opportunity for SMU to carve out its own niche and stand out.
