QUICK AND DIRTY: LIVE FROM TALLINNThe room is lit by blue blues. A woman appears out of nowhere, admitting that she has spent the whole day “writing a play.” She talks of her intention to join an ashram (a spiritual hermitage in India), suggesting that it is common for people of a certain age to enter a monastery, or go to war. This opening segment perfectly encapsulates the dark and thoughtful flow that the rest of the film will take.

Tülizar (Ecem Uzun) is a quiet and introspective 20-something-year old woman about to leave her native Turkey in favour of Kosovo, where her future husband Emre (Bekir Behrem) eagerly waits for her. The old woman is turned away on the border because her passport is nearing its expiry date, leaving our protagonist to finish the travels on her own.

This is a film about memories: happy ones, fun flashbacks, harrowing moments of introspection. Ernesta (Gelminė Glemžaitė) is a wife who cries watching her husband in a boxing ring; her sister Juste (Agnė Kaktaitė) is involved with a man who risks ruining their livelihood by brawling with his brother-in-law; and the two counter their spouses egos through dance routines done to British pop duo Lighthouse Family.
