Access to high-quality health care is a social determinant of health. Closures of hospitals and pediatric inpatient beds in the US have resulted in challenges for pediatric care and health equity. The study by Leyenaar and colleagues1 examines geographic access and capacity of hospital care for children in the US. Leyenaar and colleagues1 report changes in the hospitalization of children at urban and rural hospitals in the US from 2009 to 2019.
