Energy Secretary Ed Miliband’s “ideological” net zero policies are a threat to national security because of their reliance on Chinese technology, the former head of MI6 Sir Richard Dearlove has warned. Speaking to The i Paper, Dearlove outlined the risk of using Chinese technology in the UK’s wind farms, solar panels, electric cars and other green energy infrastructure. The UK has been trying to reset its relationship with China but fears are growing about the threat posed to national security.

The hugely popular show followed the fictional case of a 13-year-old boy accused of murdering a girl from his class. It delved into the influence of toxic material online, specifically the misogynistic incel movement.

A legal battle examining whether Amazon pressured workers to cancel their union memberships is beginning this week – and could see the tech giant forced to pay out £5m to workers. An attempt to create the first unionised Amazon warehouse in the UK failed last July after falling short by just29 votes. Amazon is accused of using “dirty tricks” and breaking employment law in the run-up to the ballot.

Elon Musk’s bill for backing the far-right leader Tommy Robinson’s legal cases is likely to reach more than £120,000. Earlier in April, Robinson lost his appeal attempting to shorten his 18-month prison sentence for contempt of court for repeating libellous allegations against a Syrian refugee. It was the second court defeat in less than a month for the former leader of the now-defunct English Defence League, after he lost a legal challenge to his enforced segregation in HMP Woodhill in March.
