Ahead of Notre Dame’s matchup with Stanford on Oct. 12, two Californians assembled on Notre Dame’s campus for an entirely different type of confrontation. John Yoo and Harry Litman — both prominent law professors and former government officials, but with opposing political views — met to engage in a political and legal debate on matters relevant to the upcoming presidential election.

" “One, two, three . . . GO IRISH!” Somewhere in South Bend, IN, a group of determined individuals donning gold helmets huddled together and shouted these words. Don’t be fooled! This wasn’t a Saturday in Notre Dame Stadium during a home game weekend. That rallying cry didn’t echo from the Fighting Irish football players, whose heads are topped by helmets containing flakes of 23.9 karat gold from the Golden Dome itself. " Spring in South Bend is always a gamble. Within a given April week, a Notre Dame student could be met with scorching 80 degree weather, a torrential downpour with 45 mph wind gusts and, yes, even a snowstorm that necessitates dusting off the parka that was prematurely put in storage. Monday, April 8, 2024 was one of those picturesque spring days that reinvigorates everyone’s spirits, much needed after having endured the bitter cold and permacloud for months.

" “It was like time stopped.” Notre Dame senior Kelly Skwarcan’s expression emanated delight as she recounted her first time exploring the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, at age 10. Skwarcan and her father managed to wander through the museum for 14 hours. Human physiology seems to have stopped, too — to this day Skwarcan can’t recall eating or even using the bathroom the whole day. Skwarcan was in the fourth grade when she caught the Titanic bug.
