    Nigeria’s headline inflation has dropped to 24.48 per cent year on year in January 2025. This is according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The Statistician-General of the Federation Adeyemi Adeniran announced this on Tuesday. He said the Consumer Price Index (CPI) –  which measures the rate of change in prices of goods and commodities –  has declined to 24.48 per cent year on year in January.

    Nine pregnant women have been rescued from a baby factory in Abuja, the nation’s capital. The victims were rescued by officials of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the agency said on Thursday. In a statement, spokesperson of NAPTIP, Vincent Adekoye, said the baby factory is situated at one of the sprawling estates in the Ushafa area in the Federal Capital Territory.

    In a clear message of zero tolerance for cash flow disruptions, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has sanctioned Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) for failing to make Naira notes available through automated teller machines (ATMs), during the yuletide season.
