WORCESTER – Some call May 8 '508 Day,' a recognition of the 508 area code introduced to Worcester and beyond in the late 1980s. This year the 'holiday' coincides with Small Business Appreciation Week, which encourages residents to shop local over big box stores. To mark the day, the City of Worcester is offering free parking all day on May 8, at all on-street metered spots, as well as the municipal surface parking lots on Green, Water and Millbury streets.
