WATERVLIET, N.Y. (WNYT)- Evan Kennedy, 36, from Watervliet was arrested for rape after an investigation by the Watervliet Police Department in cooperation with the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, police said. Kennedy sexually assaulted a 17-year-old victim over an extended period of time, according to police. Kennedy was charged with first-degree rape, arraigned in Watervliet City Court and is being monitored by Albany County Probation.

A suspect has died after being shot by State Police during a domestic incident in Malta on Thursday morning. It happened at the Ellsworth Apartments on Route 9. Two troopers had minor injuries, police said. They were treated on scene and expected to recover fully. There is no threat to the public, investigators said. Some people had to evacuate, while others were told to shelter in place at the apartments.

This on the heels of a man who was shot in front of the Malta State Police barracks Wednesday afternoon after he started shooting at the building. State Police are asking for people to avoid the area. NewsChannel 13 is working to learn more about this breaking news and have a crew on their way to the scene.

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- The New York State Thruway Authority is encouraging E-ZPass users and travelers to make payments or changes to their account before April 9. An upgrade is planned for the system that will make the E-ZPass website and Tolls NY mobile app inaccessible between 7 p.m. April 9 through April 14. Customers will also be unable to reach a customer service representative during the April 9-14 timeframe as well.
