I browse photos in cookbooks, go online for ideas and think about food I haven’t eaten for some time. If you find yourself bored with food, experiment with different cuisines to add interest and variety. Eat with friends as often as possible. Variety fights boredom. Explore new fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. Buy a vegetable you don’t normally eat and search for ways to cook with it.

    There are many Easter traditions. Along with parades, bunnies, candy and lilies there is the egg. Eggs represent rebirth and renewal. The most notable Easter egg in Canada is the giant Pysanka in Vegreville, Alta. In 1973, the Government of Alberta established the Alberta Century Celebrations Committee to coordinate the centennial celebrations of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The committee distributed funds to several Alberta municipalities including Vegreville.

    The European Commission set out its plan to increase sustainable and resilient production in Europe and to pursue competitiveness and decarbonisation, in a Clean Industrial Deal and an Action Plan for Affordable Energy. One of the areas earmarked for change is public procurement law. The Commission will make a proposal to revise the Public Procurement Framework. It describes the action as ‘revision of Public Procurement Directives to mainstream the use of non-price criteria’, to be done by Q4 2026.

    The High Court in Ireland addressed interest for late payment in adjudication decisions in a judgment in Finnegan Contracts Ltd v Killycard Developments Ltd [2024] IEHC 752. The proceedings concerned an application to enforce an adjudicator’s decision. The Court was satisfied that there was nothing in the procedural history or substance of the decision to prevent the Court from granting an enforcement order.

    The Christmas season is a favourite travel time for many. Traditions and food vary, of course, making it even more interesting. For example, countries in Europe, Latin America and South Africa have the big feast on Christmas Eve. Serving the big dinner on Christmas Day is mainly a North American tradition. Oranges at Christmas time are popular around the world.
