    A nonprofit school founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, is closing. The Primary School in East Palo Alto opened in 2016 to provide free education to families in the area. It was funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. In addition to providing kids from low-income families an education, the school also provided wrap-around services like health and dental care.

    As Zoe Rosenberg prepares to graduate from University of California, Berkeley in May with a bachelor’s degree in social movement strategy, she is also preparing to stand trial in Sonoma County.Rosenberg faces several felony charges, including burglary and theft, for taking four chickens from Petaluma Poultry in June 2023. Petaluma Poultry is owned by Purdue Farms.If convicted, Rosenberg faces up to five and a half years in prison.Rosenberg does not deny taking the chickens.

    A gray whale washed up along the beach in Alameda on Monday. It's the fifth whale to die in the San Francisco Bay in less than a month. Four of the whales have been gray whales. Others washed up in the Marin Headlands and Fox Point. A rare minke whale had to be euthanized near Emeryville earlier this month. Gray whales are currently in the middle of their migration from Mexico to Alaska. The whales typically give birth in the waters off the coast of Mexico and will feed in the waters off Alaska.

    A witness to a 2022 stabbing in Vallejo testified for the first time on Tuesday, detailing the attack involving a samurai sword. Tuesday's hearing focused on Alexander Leatham and Suri Dao, who are accused of attacking and stabbing their landlord, Curtis Lind, with a samurai sword.
