Liberty, one of Britain's oldest department stores, has unveiled a magical theme for its annual Christmas window display. The London flagship will undergo a makeover on 7 November in collaboration with Universal Pictures for the upcoming Wicked film. "Liberty will dazzle the festive season with a celebration of Wicked’s epic tale of friendship, empowerment and defiance," said the 149-year-old retailer.

Chanel is spreading the festive magic early for a worldwide exclusive holiday pop-up in Harrods. Until 24 October, the luxury department store will be the first to showcase the French fashion and beauty house's Christmas collection. A snow-covered Chanel No. 5 fragrance and a 12-shade gift set of the brand's refillable 31 Le Rouge Lipstick are among the limited edition products available.

John Lewis is axing its CEO role as the new chairman Jason Tarry reshuffles the British department store's leadership team. Nish Kankiwala (pictured) was named as the retailer's first-ever chief executive in March 2023 under former chairman Dame Sharon White's direction. Tarry, who was appointed as chairman in April, will take over Kankiwala's executive leadership responsibilities as the ousted CEO will become a non-executive adviser to the board by March 2025.

The 27-year-old will play the brand's 'body wash genie' in a series of adverts where she becomes "ultimate grooming wish-granter for men". Bath & Body Works, the US retail chain, has apologised after critics argued that its festive candle design resembles uniforms worn by the Ku Klux Klan. The North American cosmetics retailer had launched a limited edition scented candle called Snowed In featuring a paper snowflake on the packaging. But the new product went viral on social media after consumers compared the design to the white hoods and robes worn by the American white supremacist group.
