By the time Danny Crossen stepped into helping lead player development at Northeastern, he had already lived the full arc of a college baseball journey. Now, one year removed from a record-breaking senior season, he’s bringing that experience to the next generation from a different vantage point. But Crossen’s route to Northeastern wasn’t typical. In high school, he originally considered playing college hockey before fully committing to baseball.

March 18, 2024 After one last series, the Northeastern baseball team (8-4) ended their road trip and were ready to take it back to Friedman Diamond. Before that, the Huskies had a remaining contest against Georgia Tech — where they won by 7-0 thanks to two home runs from graduate student first baseman Tyler MacGregor — and a series against the Old Dominion Monarchs (9-6) in Norfolk.

After dropping its season-opening series to Arizona and winning two games against Minnesota, the Northeastern baseball team (5-3) traveled to Macon, Georgia over the weekend to face the Mercer Bears (9-3). As new players found their footing on the team and blended with old talent, Northeastern came out on top and won two of three games, taking the series. The Huskies had a rough start to the weekend, falling to Mercer in their first matchup on Saturday.

Flashback to May 2023 — the Huskies walked off the field with pride after an incredibly momentous season. They set a program record with 44 wins and 106 homers and appeared in the NCAA tournament for the 10th time. The Huskies had never found themselves with a midweek top-25 ranking before. Unfortunately, they fell short in the CAA Championship against UNC Wilmington, and after clinching an at-large spot in the NCAA regionals, Northeastern walked home empty-handed.

Earlier this season, assistant captain and senior forward Gunnarwolfe Fontaine hit a milestone in his career — one hundred games as a Husky. Throughout his time on the Northeastern men’s hockey team, he’s made a memorable name for himself and set his legacy as a leading forward at Northeastern. His introduction to hockey and the red and black jersey, though, started with his sister.
