Pitch, Please! was a finalist for the title of best collegiate a cappella group in the world — and for this year’s competition season, it knew exactly how to prepare. Northeastern’s premier women-centered a cappella group was founded in 2012 to “challenge the standards of traditional collegiate a cappella.” Two years ago, the group won third place at the 2023 International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, or ICCA.

Over the past year, Northeastern has experienced two defining moments. The first was the April 2024 student encampment calling on Northeastern to divest from American defense contractors that supply weapons to Israel. The second is the Trump administration placing pressure on higher education and threatening universities’ academic independence. These moments were tests for our university administrators. Yet, in both cases, they failed.

Since President Donald Trump took office in January, The Huntington News has seen an increased number of sources ask for anonymity, refuse to speak to reporters out of fear and even request to unpublish pieces that expressed positions critical of the United States government. Given that The Huntington News is a campus newspaper at a university with the second-highest population of international students in the nation, many of our sources, writers and editors hail from other countries.

The Boston Marathon is a beloved part of Boston history, holding the title of the world’s oldest annual marathon since its inception in 1897. From only 18 local entrants in its first year, the marathon has grown to nearly 32,000 entrants in the 2025 race — and almost half of them identify as women. Despite their high participation, women have only been allowed to compete since 1972.

Bradley French is a modern renaissance man. He’s a fourth-year behavioral neuroscience major on the pre-medical school track, member of the Phi Delta Epsilon fraternity, Huntington 100 inductee, Nu Rho Psi Honors Society member and an undergraduate teaching fellow. French is also on the Northeastern club hockey team and has two clinical co-op experiences under his belt. One would think that would be enough. But on top of it all, French has been training to run the Boston Marathon April 21.
