2 1/2 A 12-year-old boy on a bike ride with his dad was killed in a freak accident after hitting a telegraph pole when his brakes failed, an inquest heard. Rufus Pomeroy was an experienced cyclist who had gone on a "planned camping trip" with his father in half-term school holidays. The pair had gone for a ride in remote hills near Hay-on-Wye, Powys, when Rufus realised his brakes were not working properly.
