Note from corresponding author Daniel J. Berger, MD: The shortage of EMS providers and burnout have been critical issues for the profession and have only worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic. There have been numerous explanations posited for the shortage of EMS providers including burnout, low wages, and inadequate workplace conditions and burnout. However, to our knowledge, no studies have investigated the impact of social needs and social risks on EMS provider wellbeing.
