    After NC State experienced two winter weather events in January which resulted in reduced operating conditions, students might be wondering how and why the University decides to cancel classes. Todd Becker, NC State’s manager of emergency management and mission continuity, is one of the first individuals in this process. Becker’s department regularly creates emergency operations plans, effectively mapping out strategies for a variety of scenarios, one of the most common being adverse weather.

NC State food and dining’s food offerings must reflect and support the student body by providing menu items that align with various religious dietary restrictions. Lauren Smith, director of nutrition and wellness for NC State Dining, said halal food offerings are some of the most frequently requested items in dining halls and campus markets. Halal foods are permissible under Islamic law, while haram foods are forbidden.

    Although the sun set an hour earlier, a packed Stafford Commons shined bright Wednesday evening with neon flashing lights for the Mental Health Ambassadors’ annual event, “Glow Up for Mental Health.”The student-led event’s goal was to bring a fun and engaging atmosphere to the conversation surrounding mental health, hosting an assortment of glow-in-the-dark games, including cornhole, mini golf, passing out temporary tattoos and glitter and holding a s’mores stand.

    Beginning next semester, all undergraduate degree-seeking students will be automatically opted-in to Course Ready, NC State’s new digital-preferred textbook and course materials program. Students will automatically receive all required digital materials submitted by their professor on the first day of class. Full-time and part-time students will be charged a flat rate of $279 and $179 plus sales tax respectively.
