Beaumont/Port Arthur — The final push for early votes is underway in Beaumont and Port Arthur, where candidates in the mayoral runoff are battling for support at the polls. Early voting began Tuesday, May 27 and runs through June 3. In Beaumont, Mayor Roy West is facing former mayor Robin Mouton in the Saturday, June 7 runoff. The Jefferson County Clerk's Office reports 7,002 votes through Sunday night, including 501 mail-in ballots.

Eight injured after SUV crashes into tree in north Beaumont. Police say the Yukon went off the road at Redwood and Concord shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday. The driver overcorrected and struck the tree. EMS and Beaumont Fire were on scene quickly and worked to get the driver and passengers out of the SUV.
