Washington — A homeland security official who served during President Trump's first term and who authored an anonymous op-ed criticizing him is speaking out after he was targeted by the president in an executive memo. Miles Taylor, who was chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security and left the Trump administration in 2019, said learning of the memo was a "gut punch" that has taken a devastating toll.

Szabo, a Romanian national, has pleaded guilty to leading a scheme to target dozens of politicians and social media influencers with a wave of "swatting" attacks. According to court filings, Szabo began building a network of "swatters" in 2018 to unleash havoc on public figures in the United States.

The federal prosecutor who helped lead the largest federal criminal case in American history has resigned his position in the Justice Department. Longtime Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Rosen, the chief of the Justice Department's Capitol Siege Section, has departed for a post with a private law firm. In an interview with CBS News, Rosen said President Trump's pardons of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol rioters continue to shock and alarm the federal investigators who handled the cases.

Amid the wave of pardons and commutations President Trump has doled out to some of his supporters and surrogates, one former MAGA loyalist in Idaho is fighting to return her pardon. Pamela Hemphill is one of the more than 1,500 people whom Mr. Trump pardoned earlier this year for their roles in the U.S. Capitol Insurrection. She has invoked help from her Republican Senator to formally refuse and block the pardon Trump issued her on Jan. 20, his first day back in the White House.
