The Canadian Grand Prix stewards have dismissed a protest against race winner George Russell after Red Bull alleged the Mercedes driver drove erratically and showed “unsportsmanlike intent”. Red Bull protested Russell on the grounds that he committed violations of the sporting regulations, but also the International Sporting Code when behind the safety car late in the Montreal race after a collision between the two McLaren drivers.

Lando Norris has been given a five-second penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix he crashed out of, rather than a grid drop for the next Formula 1 race in Austria. Norris clumsily drove into the back of McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri, trying to pass him for fourth in the closing laps of the Montreal race. Norris and Piastri were chasing Kimi Antonelli for the final podium place when Norris made an opportunistic move on Piastri at the hairpin.

The Red Bull Formula 1 team has submitted a protest against Canadian Grand Prix winner George Russell. Russell beat Max Verstappen to win in Montreal in a race that finished under safety conditions following a late clash between McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

Luca de Meo, the architect of the Alpine Formula 1 project, will step down as the boss of its parent company Renault next month. De Meo became CEO of the Renault Group in 2020 and initiated a plan to transform the fortunes of its various automotive brands. A key part of that was producing new Alpine car models to make the niche brand a player in the electric vehicles market - and to that end, the Renault Sport division was merged with Alpine to create a new business unit.
