Record-tying heat and record-breaking heat expected across North Texas Happy Monday! It will be a gorgeous but warm day. As the upper-level low pressure to the east moves further east, a ridge of high pressure will build into the Southern Plains, and that will start to bake North Texas mid-week. The upper-level low that brought the rain to North Texas last week has been slow to move. Monday morning, the low axis is centered over Arkansas and Mississippi.

Dense fog could impact the morning drive for some North Texans Wednesday morning. A dense fog advisory is in effect for parts of North Texas until 10 a.m. CBS News Texas meteorologists also issued a First Alert Weather Morning. The dense fog advisory includes Wise, Tarrant, Johnson and Parker counties. Visibility is near zero for western counties – just before 6 a.m., visibility in Keller was 0.3 miles and in Hillsboro was 0.3 miles.

Storms are on the way to North Texas, prompting a flood watch for most of the region from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Wednesday. The main threats with Tuesday's storms include wind damage, large hail and flooding. The greatest tornado threat looks to lie along and south of I-20 for Tuesday afternoon. A severe thunderstorm watch is also in effect for parts of North Texas, including Erath and Palo Pinto counties, until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Rainy week ahead in North Texas There was a beautiful sunrise across North Texas Monday morning with a few clouds, but by afternoon, scattered showers and storms begin to move in. A widespread and impactful round of storms is expected late Monday night through much of Tuesday. While severe weather remains a concern, especially south of I-20, confidence is increasing in a heavy rainfall and flooding threat, particularly east of I-35.
