    The Lady Mustang softball team held off later rallies from Moravia on June 11 to secure yet another win in last week’s winning streak. Davis County won the game 9-7. The girls took charger early securing four of their seven hits in the first inning alone. Moravia also committed two of five  game errors in the inning, which helped Davis County boost that rally. Cassidy VanLaningham, Ashlyn Olinger, Bella Durflinger and Olivia Robinson all had hits in the inning. Addison McClure reached on an error.

    After winning four straight games last week, the Lady Mustang softball team saw that streak come to an end with a 9-6 loss to Cardinal on June 12. Davis County scattered nine hits against the Cardinal offense. Defensively, Davis County committed three costly errors that helped the Comets secure the win. Lydia Barker did all she could with her play in the circle. She struck out six and walked two. A potent Cardinal offense managed to secure 11 hits off Barker’s pitching during the game.

    The Mustang baseball team dominated the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rockets in a South Central Conference doubleheader on June 9. The Mustangs won game one 5-1 and finished the night with a 17-2 dominating win in the second game. Josh Settles was a big part of getting both wins against the Rockets. Settles pitched game one and went the distance. He struck out seven and walked two while giving up just one run on two hits. Settles also had one hit and one RBI in the game.

    The Lady Mustang softball team picked up its second win in a row on June 9 with a 7-3 win over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in South Central Conference play. Davis County hosted the Rockets in their first South Central Conference meeting of the season. The Lady Mustangs enjoyed this win over a team that has given them trouble for the past several years. The girls found eight hits against the Rockets’ pitching and secured five RBIs in the game as well.

    The Lady Mustang softball team picked up its third win in a row last week after scoring a 2-1 win over Keokuk on June 10. Davis County pitcher Lydia Barker continued to work her magic in the circle for the Lady Mustangs. She struck out seven and walked two while holding the Chiefs to just one run. Barker has benefited from a Davis County defense that has played better as the season as progressed.

The Mustang baseball team travels to Knoxville Monday night for a varsity doubleheader. Action begins at 5 p.m. The boys will travel to Mount Pleasant Tuesday night for a non-conference game. The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m.

The Mustang softball team travels to Knoxville Monday night. Action begins at 5:30 p.m. with the junior varsity game. The varsity game will follow. The girls return to action Wednesday with a game at Centerville. Action begins at 5:30 p.m. with the junior varsity game.

The Mustang baseball team rallied for three runs in the first inning Thursday night to beat Cardinal 3-2. The win extended the Mustang winning streak to three games. Davis County returns to action Monday with a varsity doubleheader at Knoxville. Action begins at 5 p.m.
