    The Mustang boys’ track team put forth a strong performance May 6 and scored 170 team points, but still couldn’t come up with a South Central Conference championship. Davis County fell short by 28 points to a Knoxville team that posted 198 team points in the meet. Knoxville won 10 events while Davis County scored victories in five different events throughout the meet. The bright spot for Davis County in this meet was the work of senior Carter Will.

    Schooley is third in singles divisionThe Lady Mustang tennis team finished second in the South Central Conference Tournament. The tournament was held in Knoxville on May 6. Knoxville won the tournament with 31 team points. Davis County was second with 15. Albia finished third with 14 points. Centerville was fourth with seven points. Clarke was fifth with six points and Chariton was sixth with wo points.

    Conference champs! That’s right, the Lady Mustang track team brought home a South Central Conference Championship last week. The girls scored 149 team points and beat Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont by five and a half points to win the team title. The girls won that team title by winning just two events outright. The team used its depth in all other events to score points in multiple ways including several where two athletes finished in the scoring places.

    After winning the Eddy Relays in Eddyville on Tuesday, the Lady Mustang track team was back in action Thursday, April 24 to compete in the Washington Girls Invitational. Davis County scored just 68 points and finished fourth in a meet featuring some tough competition from eastern Iowa. Cora Maeder was a bright spot for Davis County in this meet. She has been throwing the discus really well as of late and put together another strong performance again in Washington.

    The Mustang boys’ track team emerged as the team winner of the Ike Ryan Relays April 24 in Eddyville. The Mustangs didn’t think they had won the meet when they left Eddyville that night, but a second check of points and scores revealed an error in the scoring that helped put the Mustangs on top. Davis County won the meet with 138 team points. Williamsburg finished second with 131 points. Blaine Meyer has been a key member of the team this season and has helped the team score many points each week.

The Lady Mustang tennis team will finish the regular season Saturday as they take part in the Maharishi Tournament. Action begins at 9 a.m.

The Lady Mustang golf team travels to Oskaloosa Tuesday for the South Central Conference Tournament. Action begins at 10 a.m. at Edmonson Golf Course. The girls finished eighth in the Ottumwa Tournament that was held Thursday. The girls shot a 437 team score.

The Mustang boys' golf team finished third at Chariton Thursday shooting a 318 team score. Hayden Utt shot a 77. Tucker Bish shot a 79. Davis County returns to action Monday playing in the South Central Conference Tournament. Action begins at 10 a.m at Cedar Creek Golf Course.
