The 43rd annual Jim Beam Softball Classic drew a large crowd recently in Crossville. Teams from all around the state, as well has the southeastern region of the country converged on Centennial Park. Six Pac came out on top in the D Class of competition. Six Pac knocked off Think Green by a score of 8-4 in the championship game. Matt Jones has been working diligently to get his 6U all-stars ready for the postseason. Jones has been practicing with his team for almost three weeks and he’s feeling pretty good about what he sees. He’s been teaching the fundamentals of baseball - hitting, pitching and fielding. For this Crossville team, it is back to the basics and just in time for the Diamond Youth Baseball 6U District Tournament in Caryville, TN. Flag football team wins Chronicle award for Team of the Year

There hasn’t been a sports team at Stone Memorial High School to ever have the season the flag football team had in 2025. In its first year as a sport sanctioned by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association, the Stone Memorial Lady Panthers dominated. Markham looking for repeat at Senior Open

Joe Markham, the defending champion of the Men’s State Senior Golf Open, has been trying to get as many rounds in as he can before he tees off next week at this year’s event. Stone anglers finish 11th at state

The Stone Memorial fishing panthers had a big weekend last week when they competed in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association State Championship on Dale Hollow Lake near Celina, TN. Stone Memorial sent three boats to the competition with one duo — Mason Lefebvre and Brett McClung – finishing 11th overall, out of 163 boats.

Kayne Bosanko, the talented former sports star at Stone Memorial High School, didn’t have a lot of free time last year at SMHS. During the summer, Bosanko worked out almost daily with the SMHS football team in preparation for the upcoming season. Ostrander closes CCHS career with standout season

The Cumberland County High School Jets, under the guidance of first-year coach Tyler Thompson, had one their best baseball seasons in quite a few years in 2025. Players say Thompson came in and changed the program culture, and taught the players to believe they can win. And the proof was in the pudding. Cumberland County finished with 11 wins overall and proved to be a definite district contender.
Crab Orchard archers do it again

The Crab Orchard Elementary School archery teams fared very well last week at the National Archery in School Programs National Championship in Louisville. Several local archers did well enough at the meet to qualify for the World Championships next month in Daytona Beach.

James Pritt had a good feeling about his team as the Stone Memorial Panthers and Lady Panthers entered last week’s TSSAA State Track and Field Championships in Murfreesboro. Pritt had two guys — Nathan Wagner and Trevor Sinard, along with one girl — Shelby Vitous competing in the event. Perez signs to play soccer Bryan College

Jaime Perez, a two-sport star at Cumberland County High School, made it official last week that he’s chosen to play soccer next year at Bryan College in Dayton, TN.
